Vial label sizes: 2 ml to 30 ml
Fit is the first spec. A label that rides onto the shoulder curve lifts, and one cut for the wrong circumference spirals on application. The table below maps each vial size to the body it usually comes in, the wrap length that fits it, and the tallest label the straight sidewall will take.
Dimensions are nominal per ISO 8362-1 (or the common serum-vial equivalent where ISO has no designation). Vials from different molders vary by a millimeter or more, so we cut every die to the outside diameter you measure, not to the table.
Comparison table
| Nominal volume | Designation | Body OD | Vial height | Wrap label length | Usable label height | Cap circle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 ml | 2R | 16 mm | 35 mm | 2.125 in (overlap) | 1 in | 0.5 in |
| 3 ml | 3 ml serum (17 × 39 mm) | 17 mm | 39 mm | 2.125 in (edge to edge) | 1 in | 0.5 in |
| 5 ml | 6R | 22 mm | 40 mm | 3 in (overlap) | 1 in | 0.75 in |
| 10 ml | 10R | 24 mm | 45 mm | 3 in (edge to edge) | 1 in | 0.75 in |
| 20 ml | 20R | 30 mm | 55 mm | 3 in panel, or 3.75 in custom wrap | 1 in (1.25 in on a measured sidewall) | 0.75 in |
| 30 ml | 30 ml serum (30 to 37 mm body) | 30 mm | 75 mm | 4 in (overlap on 30 mm) | 2 in on a 2 in sidewall | 0.75 in |
Wrap length includes overlap where noted. Usable label height is the tallest label that stays on the straight sidewall without touching the shoulder. Cap circle is the largest circle that sits inside a flip-off cap of that finish size with a margin.
2 ml versus 10 ml: what changes
Small vials, 2 to 3 ml
Sixteen to seventeen millimeters across, so the whole label is about two inches of circumference. Six- or seven-point type is the floor for legibility, a QR code needs half an inch on its own, and the research-use line takes a full row. Most peptide suppliers run the 2.125 × 1 in wrap with a two-column layout and put the COA reference in the QR.
Diluent vials, 5 to 20 ml
Twenty-two to thirty millimeters across gives three or more inches of wrap. That is room for a barcode and a QR side by side, a multi-line storage instruction, and a supplier contact block. From 20 ml up, a panel that leaves a clear strip to read fill level is usually the better call than a full wrap.
